Happy Monday!  My absolute favorite way to dress as I have gotten older is a casual style with easy to throw on, mix and match pieces.  When I was younger (early to mid 20’s) all I wanted to wear was super trendy things, mixing patterns, and I was focused on trying to stay ahead of the trend.  I think it was Carrie Bradshaw that did it to me.  I wanted her entire closet even the super weird stuff I loved!  Now, don’t get me wrong, I still like a good pattern play, but at the end of the day I wasn’t roaming the streets of New York, and when I didn’t want to overthink every detail of my outfit, or if I just throw something casual on, I didn’t have any options!  Believe it or not, the casual style didn’t come naturally to me, and I started so badly wanting to dress “casual chic”.  After I started having kids, I worked hard at building a wardrobe with more wearable pieces.  Pieces that are easy to mix and match and that won’t go out of style in one season.  I do miss the shock factor of my husbands face in those old days with the”what are you wearing” look,  but I still get to do that every year at New York Fashion week and I now enjoy creating outfits that others can relate to.

What I love most about throwing a cardigan over a cami is that it truly is a year around look.  Take the cardi off in the summer, throw it on with boots or booties in the fall.  Same with a dress!  Nothing is cuter than a cardigan worn with a dress.  Sans the cardigan in the summer and opt for sandals .. add the cardi back with boots for fall.  I just ran across these tie back booties (here and here). What do you think?  I have SO many booties, but I wear them ALL the time.  You can shop some of my other favorite casual pieces below.  Simply scroll through and click on the image to shop.

Hope everyone has a great day!

xo, Jaime
