I think I have FINALLY perfected my dark circle and under-eye concealer routine. Ughhh it’s all a part of aging I guess! It’s taken me some time to figure out what works best for me, but this step-by-step routine helps conceal dark circles and reduce under-eye puffiness. I wanted to share the products I’ve been using and swear by and how I apply them for that perfect, brightened look without creasing. You can watch my full routine on Instagram here.
Step 1: Tinted Moisturizer
First, I apply the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer all over my face. I mostly use the shade fawn, although sometimes I will switch it up depending on how tan I am. It has SPF 30 and the other products I use always apply much more smoothly and evenly if I’m wearing the tinted moisturizer as well. I have used this since I was probably in my 20s. Definitely a holy grail product for me and perfect for those “no makeup, makeup” days.
Step 2: Duo Stick
Next, I use the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Correct and Brighten Concealer Duo Stick in shade 1N. I only use the brighten/highlighting side. I apply it under my eyes and then blend with my fingertips. Super important to apply right after your tinted moisturizer so it blends better.
Step 3: Setting Powder
Then I go in with the Laura Mercier Secret Eye Brightening Setting Powder in shade 1. Have I mentioned how much I love Laura Mercier products?? So good. I use the Camouflage Powder Brush to apply the powder under my eyes. I read the reviews before I bought the setting powder and so many said that using the brush makes a big difference in how it applies! So I bought it 🤪 I apply this before concealer and it is a gamechanger in how the concealer wears on my skin. It helps to avoid those wrinkles that can sometimes happen with under-eye makeup. You could apply it after concealer, but I prefer how it looks and wears when I use it first!
Step 4: Concealer
Finally, I use my all-time favorite concealer product, the Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Corrector for Eyes Liquid Concealer in shade ochre. It’s a little pricey, but I have tried so many different kinds of concealers and this one is the best. A little goes a long way, and the tube I’ve been using has lasted me a year. I use this brush to blend the product in. I also use it for other dark spots.
After I posted this step-by-step routine on Instagram, I got a lot of questions about what I use to actually correct and reduce the under-eye puffiness and darkness, besides makeup. First thing in the morning, I use the Dermelect Dark Circle Corrector. It has a cool-tip applicator to help with puffiness and you use it to rub the serum in. After that, I use the Mario Badescu Brightening & Revitalizing Under Eye Serum. You just need a little bit of product, and I rub it in with my fingers. I feel like these help immediately with that puffy look after you just wake up.
And that’s it! You could do this routine with a full face of makeup, but I often just do this for “no makeup, makeup” days. Sometimes I’ll add blush! But I swear by this step-by-step process to help reduce the appearance of dark circles and under-eye puffiness that seems to worsen with age. All the products from Nordstrom are on sale right now too!
