apple cinnamon steel cut oatmeal

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a breakfast recipe. I thought with the kids out of school over winter break for a couple weeks, this would be easy and quick to make while home! This oatmeal recipe needs only a couple ingredients that you probably already have sitting in your kitchen. You can also top with other ingredients to your liking like brown sugar, blackberries and cinnamon.Β I hope you like it! Also be sure to try out this breakfast casserole recipe. It’s one of the boys’ favorite meals!

Stovetop Old Fashioned Oats

/

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup milk plus 2-3 tablespoons as needed
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and pour in the oats. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft and have absorbed most of the liquid, about 5 minutes. Add the remaining milk as needed, remove from heat, cover and let stand for 2-3 minutes.
